Question about 'The Raven'?
I have a question about 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe.
In verse 13 of the raven, he's talking about trying to think of what the raven meant by saying "Nevermore".
Then he says
"On the cushion's velvet lining
That the lamplight gloated o'er,
But whose velvet violet lining
With the lamplight gloating o'er
She shall press, ah , nevermore!"
When he says the lamplight "gloated o'er" do you think it meant the light was making fun of him and his sadness in someway? or is it just a word used for shining from the time it was written?

Well, in the sense that the light from the lamp dominated the scene he describes, it could be poetically said that the light was 'gloating'. Purely poetic language, I would think.

Can a tuxedo shirt (the winged collar type, pique dress shirt) be worn with a normal paisley tie?
I need help! Need to know if a tuxedo shirt can be worn with a paisley tie (the usual tie) or an ascot tie. Or does it always need a bow-tie with it?

I have an Italian songs CD with 3 songs credited to "Winkler". I was curious who that was, but when I tried to find out I got conflicting information. The songs listed on the CD are Chianti Song, Neopolitan Song, and Capri Fisher.
